Yes Partly No Doesn't apply

  • Brace prices are typical U.S. retail prices; custom brace prices are for braces from the major manufacturers and usually don't include the fitting visit.
  • Cortisone pricing uses 2026 Medicare rates for a knee injection in a doctor's office (CPT 20610, $68.81) plus 40 mg of triamcinolone (about $4). Providers' average billed charge for the injection alone is about $273, before any office visit. First-year cost assumes shots spaced about every 3 months.
  • Your costs will vary with your insurance, location, and provider.
  • Cortisone side effects: a temporary flare of pain after the shot and a short-term rise in blood sugar (mainly a concern with diabetes) are recognized effects of steroid injections. Shots every 3 months for 2 years led to greater cartilage loss than saline, with no difference in pain (McAlindon TE, et al. JAMA. 2017;317(19):1967-1975).

Most customers notice steadier footing on stairs, when changing direction while walking, during side-to-side movements, and on uneven ground. Individual results vary.

KNEE INSTABILITY

A custom knee brace for knees that give way, buckle, or feel unstable

Knee instability usually comes from a torn or stretched ligament such as the ACL, a meniscus tear, a kneecap that slips, arthritis, or weak thigh muscles. The BISHOP Total Contact Knee Brace adds support that limits the side-to-side and twisting motions that make a knee give way. It's modeled from a 3D scan of your leg, so it follows your leg's shape and stays in place instead of sliding down.

For many people, strengthening plus a well-fitted brace is an alternative to knee surgery, or a way to stay active while deciding. Each brace is designed by a physical therapist, 3D-printed, and finished by hand in Shreveport, Louisiana, for $299.99 per knee, plus shipping.
